PREFACE TO THE 4TH EDITION
As is tradition, Pediatric Nephrology On-The-Go is launched at the triennial Primer in Pediatric Nephrology for Asia. Since the 3 Primer in 2018, the global pandemic has ruthlessly invaded many facets of our lives although we are physically more distant because of travel restrictions, we are, in fact, more con- nected now through cloud-powered platforms. Attendance at conferences is now possible from the comfort of our homes. 2021 marks the inaugural fully virtual 4 Primer in Pediatric Nephrology for Asia, and we welcome our esteemed col- leagues and friends from geographical locations far beyond Asia. To keep up with the times, we are, for the first time, also introducing an e-Book version of Pediatric Nephrology On-The-Go.
It has always been our intention for Pediatric Nephrology On-The-Go to be a hands-on and practical reference for pediatricians, pediatric nephrologists, dialysis nurses, and physicians in training. Much emphasis has been placed on the portability of this pocket-sized book, now made even more compact with the e-Book version. In addition to extensive updates to existing chapters, this edition contains 7 new chapters, encompassing key topics such as glomerulonephritis associated with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) positive vasculitis, membranous nephropathy, neurogenic bladder, immunosuppressive medications, anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody therapy, recurrent focal segmental glomerulo- sclerosis post kidney transplantation, and prolonged intermittent kidney replacement therapy (PIKRT).
